Is this the same Jabin as we met in Josh. 11:1–15, with his fortunes now restored? Or was Jabin perhaps the dynastic name of the kings of Hazor? Certainly Scottish and English monarchic history has known Edwards, Henrys, Jameses, and Georges in plenty. No solution can be demonstrated with certainty, but my own feeling is that the one decisive historic battle for the north between Israel and Jabin of Canaan has been reported to us in two quite separate traditions: one associated with Joshua, and
